Short listing for 'Champions'

The awards recognise the best of business in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
May Gurney launched Environment Champions in a bid to significantly reduce the amount of waste produced at Trowse. The project team has set the Norwich workforce bold targets of a 10% reduction in energy consumption and a 35% reduction in landfill waste by September this year. If successful, the project will be rolled out to other offices across the country.
Last year May Gurney picked up the ultimate accolade at the climax of the EDP Awards ceremony when it was named EDP Business of the Year - having already picked up the Business Development Award earlier in the evening.
"Being named Barclays Business of the Year was a great honour and put the seal on a fantastic year for us," said David Sterry, Chief Executive.
"The quality on show in the awards every year demonstrates the remarkable business talent that exists across the region, and I'm sure this year's competition will be as fascinating as ever."
The judging panel visited Head Office on 26 July to further assess May Gurney's entry. The 2007 awards ceremony will be held in October.
