Awards round up - June 2008

Recent success in the Training Journal Awards and the Big Skills Awards confirms the high priority we place on investing in our employees.

Training Journal Awards
Having achieved a record breaking three short listings, we beat off very stiff competition to win the 'Best change management programme' at the Training Journal Awards on 24 June.

The award was for our TIPS for Good Management Programme, which was described by the judges as 'a well thought out programme designed to support the business strategy...good clear concept linked to objectives with clearly defined outcomes'.

The other short listed entries in this category were from Barclaycard Business, HM Prison Service, Selecta UK & Ireland, London & Continental Rail and HBOS plc.

The award was presented to Rosanne Goose, our learning & development manager, who developed TIPS in partnership with consultant Julian Hammond of TIPS for Good Management.

The TIPS programme also picked up a National Training Award in December 2007.

Big Skills Awards
We were highly commended in two categories of the Big Skills Awards, which were presented on 30 May.

The awards, created in partnership with BBC Radio Norfolk and the Learning And Skills Council (LSC), recognise and reward people who have improved their own life or the lives of others through learning.

Rob Upson (right in pic), general construction apprentice, was highly commended in the Skills for Work category. Rob works for the NSP (Norfolk Strategic Partnership) on the InteGreat project, which is giving Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile a much-needed facelift.

And our Starting Out programme was recognised in the Workforce for Learning category. Liz Sugden, our starting out officer (left in pic), received the commendation.
