May Gurney awarded new long-term highways maintenance contract for Harrow Council

May Gurney has been awarded Harrow Council's highways maintenance contract, valued at up to £50m.

Starting in April 2012, the initial contract period with Harrow Council is for five years with an option to extend for a further two years. The contract has been awarded in three “bundled services” lots and includes maintenance of the council's key infrastructure assets – highways, carriageways, footways, streetlights, gullies, and watercourses.

As part of the contract, May Gurney will also undertake maintenance of highways infrastructure assets belonging to London Underground and Overground, as well as watercourses belonging to the Environment Agency.

May Gurney's current forward order book stands at £1.5bn (including framework agreements but excluding extensions) and there is a strong pipeline of bidding opportunities and potential contract extensions worth in excess of £4bn in May Gurney's core markets.

Philip Fellowes-Prynne, May Gurney Chief Executive, said: "We are delighted to be working with Harrow Council on this new contract, which reinforces our position as one of the leading providers of highways maintenance services to local authorities in the UK.

"We continue to focus on providing innovative and cost effective solutions to help local authorities manage their essential infrastructure assets and look forward to building a strong and valuable relationship with Harrow Council.”
