Lean mean grittin' machine - in action!

May Gurney has launched its second online video, ‘Lean, mean, grittin' machine', on the ‘May Gurney Insight', YouTube TV channel.

Themed around the ‘Invisible Heroes' in superhero comic book style, the vodcasts show May Gurney's highways teams as the unsung heroes who keep towns and communities running smoothly.

The film is the second in a series of videos to be published on May Gurney Insight which highlight the importance of support services and infrastructure and maintenance teams. The films have been produced to build greater understanding among the public of the importance of their work and the passion the teams bring to their roles.

The first film, ‘Gum Busters', shows how May Gurney teams clean streets and pavements, and how local residents respond positively to efforts to keep their local community clean and tidy.

The latest film, ‘Lean mean grittin' machine' shows the winter highways maintenance teams at work, even in the very worst weather. The crews explain that local people ‘seem pretty grateful' for the service they provide.

Andrew Slater, May Gurney's marketing and communications director, said: “The videos really demonstrate the importance of the work our teams do. As temperatures drop, ‘Lean, mean, grittin' machine' emphasises the critical work our highway teams do to ensure the smooth, safe operation of cities, towns and villages across the UK.

“We hope these light hearted videos will make people think about our unsung heroes next time they use their local roads!”
