Long-term partnership goes from strength to strength

May Gurney and Western Power Distribution (WPD) are working in a long-term partnership to enhance service delivery for electricity consumers.

WPD, the electricity distribution network operator for the Midlands, South Wales and the South West, delivers electricity to more than 7.6m customers over a 55,300 sq kms service area. Its network consists of 216,000 kms of overhead lines and underground cables, and 184,000 substations.

May Gurney's has been working in partnership with WPD for many years. Its current measured term contract for excavation, cable laying and reinstatement works commenced in 2008 and runs until October 2013, with the option of a two-year extension.

The contract, which is valued at around £7.4m per annum, covers an area in South West England from Lands End in Cornwall to Exeter in South Devon and across to Barnstaple in North Devon. It covers dealing with faults and planed activities involved in replacing and repairing electric cables up to 33Kva.
