Kelda Water, sister company of Yorkshire Water, runs wastewater treatment and collection operations for Welsh Water in South Wales.
In March 2009, we were praised by Kelda Water for a sewage pumping station refurbishment carried out by one of our M&E teams at Arbour Lane in South Wales.
We converted the existing single pump dry well set up to a modern wet well complete with two submersible pumps and associated MCC modifications. The wet well refurbishment also necessitated the excavation and construction of new valve & bauer chambers however the pumping station site was located on a shallow spring/gravel layer and with constant bad weather the team had to handle significant high flows and ground water flooding.
Despite the flood water the team completed the project on time and with a zero accident rate.
