We’ve been working in partnership with Network Rail for many years to improve the quality of service for, and safety of, those of us who travel by rail.

We work predominantly in long-term framework contracts on the maintenance, replacement and improvement of structures, property and signaling right across the national rail network.

We deliver a wide range of maintenance and upgrading services for structures including bridges, embankments, tunnels, viaducts and earthworks.

Our long and successful involvement with the rail industry means we fully understand the key business drivers – increased efficiencies and value for money – and the unique needs of stakeholders. We use our integrated engineering and project management skills to deliver best value to rail schemes and the travelling public.

Heritage engineering
We are fortunate to possess a highly skilled labour force, passionate about their work, and capable of developing innovative solutions to difficult problems that exemplify heritage engineering.

In 2008 we completed eight years of complex repairs to the iconic Grade 1 Listed High Level Bridge (HLB), which carries a railway over one of Newcastle and Gateshead's most important traffic routes. The major strengthening and refurbishment works have extended the useful life of this iconic multi model transport asset by at least another 50 years.

Innovation has been at the heart of the project, including using R&D to justify ‘do nothing’ approaches, and state of the art engineered solutions to satisfy conservation principles. The £42m project captured the interest of the local community and received a remarkable NINE prestigious industry awards.

Currently we are working on a project to refurbish the eastern barrel roofs at the Grade II listed Victoria Station, London’s busiest and most iconic station. The £35m project will enable Network Rail to offer the travelling public a much brighter and safer environment while also restoring the Victorian engineering to its original eye-catching splendour. Works are on schedule to be completed during summer 2011.
