East Sussex County Council awarded us its long-term highways maintenance contract in summer 2005, under which we are responsible for almost 3,000 kms of roads and footpaths.
We won the contract, which is branded East Sussex Highways, on the basis of a combination of quality and service - and our strong reputation for delivering through partnerships, using locally based services.
The contract covers all road maintenance and highway improvement works including road safety, traffic calming, surfacing, surface dressing, white lining, winter gritting, verge cutting and gully emptying.
We’re co-located with county council personnel to form an integrated team. Our involvement begins early in the planning process, facilitating the production of cost-effective and efficient designs that benefit from our experience of ‘build-ability’.
Our three main values within the contract are:
“Do what we say we will do.”
To promote and develop a culture within East Sussex where staff and operatives strive to deliver to the highest safety and quality standards in a timely manner.
“Deliver continued contract improvement.”
Utilise the ‘improvement plan’ approach to deliver operational and financial improvement in East Sussex.
“Customer focus.”
We aim to provide an excellent service to the public while canvassing their opinion to continually improve our understanding of their needs.
