Client: Network Rail
Project : Bawtry Viaduct, South Yorkshire

This project comprised repairs to 15 arches of the Bawtry Viaduct on the East Coast Main Line, which is located within a Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Assent Approval for the works had to be obtained from English Nature as the site lay immediately adjacent to the River Idle Washlands - an area noted for its wet grassland habitat and populations of wintering and breeding birds.

Works covered by the project included stitching and grouting to the soffit of the arches to strengthen the structure, and repairs to brickwork piers and spandrel walls.

All areas were subjected to bunding and complemented by an appropriate spill kit, and all compressors and generators silenced.
