HEALTH & SAFETY
In recent years we have made spectacular progress in reducing the number of accidents our people experience at work.

For example, during 2006 we virtually halved our AFR (Accident Frequency Rate) - from 0.43 at the outset to 0.24 at the close - following the introduction of a behavioural change programme (developed in-house) called MAD (Making A Difference).

In 2007 the improvement has continued and our AFR dipped below 0.2 for the first time in our history.

This AFR reduction is all the more impressive given that during the three previous years we had already achieved an average year-on-year reduction of 20%.

As a result of MAD, our workforce is behaving differently and employees better appreciate their vulnerability - both inside and outside work.

They are now leading by example, walking over to help others and planning their work more thoroughly - key reasons why the accident rate has dropped so dramatically.

We also have a fully integrated business management system, and are one of a select group of construction services companies to achieve accreditation in all three of the following standards across our full range of activities:
· ISO 9001 : 2000 - Quality
· ISO 14001 - Environment
· OHSAS 18001 - Safety
