Before May Gurney
I graduated from UEA in 2003 with a degree in English Literature. Since then I've worked for several companies in Norwich, including the Norfolk Adult Education Service, where I was PA to the Head of Service and Senior Management Team.
At May Gurney
I joined May Gurney in March 2007 as Pre-Qualifications Assistant within Pre-Contract Services - so I'm very new to the company.
I help prepare pre-qualification documents, which are a step along the way to getting May Gurney on the tender list for new contracts. My role involves formatting and editing material, as well as printing and putting together hard copies of documents to be sent off to potential clients.
I am also involved in building and maintaining a library of case studies of projects completed by May Gurney, which we use to enhance pre-qualification and tender documents.
There is a huge amount to learn about the construction industry, and everyone is very willing to give their time to help me understand things I'm not sure about.
The atmosphere is very friendly - everyone works as a team and pulls together when there are large tenders to prepare.
I'm really looking forward to getting involved in a wide variety of projects in the future, and learning more about the company and its many different facets.
Away from work
I live on the outskirts of Norwich with my fiance David - we are getting married next year.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing and exploring Norfolk, and am a member of the National Trust and the RSPB.
I write a column for the EDP website in my spare time, which helps me to keep up with my writing away from work, and enables me to see my articles published.
