1. 31 week residential period at the National Construction College East. This includes BTEC units studied at the College of West Anglia.
2. Health, safety and welfare
3. Construction and the environment
4. Construction technology and design
5. Construction science and materials
6. Analytical methods (Maths)
7. ICT and CAD
8. Key skills
9. Surveying processes
10. Groundworks
11. Concrete and associated trades
12. Construction plant
13. Scaffolding
14. Project work

Rail Technician includes 1 - 11 as detailed above and then specialist rail training.

Once the 31 weeks are completed the apprentice returns to their sponsoring employer for related site experience.

Year 2
1. 15 week residential at the National Construction College East including 9 weeks of BTEC units at the College of West Anglia
2. Planning, organisation and control
3. Graphical detailing
4. Structural maths
5. Civil engineering construction
6. Applied mathematics
7. Employer related projects
8. Setting out process
9. Key skills

Once the second instalment at the National Construction College is completed the apprentice rejoins their employer for continued site experience.
